MEGA Promotions Internship

MEGA is offering a one semester, non-paid internship opportunity to students seeking insight and hands-on training within the workings of a major-market radio station. In addition to day-to-day working knowledge and experience obtained, participating students gain valuable “hands-on” work experience which will be applied and used during their post-collegiate employment positions.

REQUIREMENTS:

Prospective candidates must currently be enrolled in an accredited university, college, or trade school with the opportunity to receive school credit for an internship. Interns must be in good academic standing and able to make a minimum 15 hour per week commitment and comply with institution’s requirements. Weekend availability is required. Prospective candidate must be able to accommodate a varied and flexible schedule, which may include nights and weekend hours. Internships are available all year round.

Attention to detail is imperative with this position. Student must also possess good work ethics such as punctuality, self-motivation, a willingness to learn and be people oriented and serious about moving their career forward.

A BIT ABOUT THE PROMOTION INTERN:

Intern will be the departmental liaison for all promotions events. The prospective intern will be the point person for organizing promotional campaigns. Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Maintaining a listener database of station contest winners
  • Writing copy, distributing and compiling daily prize sheets
  • Contacting daily winners to follow-up with prizing
  • Assisting to compile documents to meet FCC regulations
  • Actively pulling content to maintain the station website with content, graphics, pictures, web contests and other interactive media
  • Acting as liaison between station and radio listeners
  • Ensuring that station vehicles are packed to successfully execute station events
  • Executing station events including client events as well as station promotional opportunities to enhance our brand, increase revenue and ratings
  • Representing station in a positive manner at station events
  • Assisting with filing, mailing and other office duties as assigned
  • MUST BE BILINGUAL

From January 2 - 10, 2009, Chicago residents can work out for free at any of the Chicago Park District’s (CPD) fitness centers.

CPD fitness centers offer state-of-the art equipment as well as accessible equipment for people with disabilities at 22 of the facilities.

Patrons who sign up for a membership will receive a free Nike cinch bag. Membership rates range from $30 to $75 for three months.

Students Can Create the Video Games They Play

GenTech, a Digital Technology Education & Training Center, is offering a special “Try-It-Out” Video Game Creation & 2-D Animation Workshop to 3rd -12th grade students. This one day class will give students a behind-the-scenes feel for making video games. They will not only have the skills to play the games; they will have the knowledge on how to create them.

Classes will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 3 pm – 5 pm at the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Tuition is $89.

Job Description

Crown Services is a staffing agency hiring people for a company in Blue Island , IL . They are staffing the following positions:

1. Painter: Must have experience in sand blasting and painting.
Will be using belt sanders and sand blasters to prepare units for painting and will then be
painting the units. (3rd shift - 10:30pm-6:30am) Pay: $12.00 per hour

2. Assembler: Must have experience as an assembler and must be able to read blueprints.
Will be performing a variety of subassembly and final assembly operations of units.
(3rd shift - 10:30pm-6:30am) Pay: $12.00 per hour

3. Electronic technician: Must have experience as an electronic tech. Must be computer literate with knowledge of wiring diagrams and schematics. Must be able to solder and assemble prototypes. Must be able to read prints and schematics. Must be knowledgeable in the usage of multimeters and power supplies. (Must be familiar with ALL formentioned skills and the skills must be displayed in your resume)
(Will train on 2nd shift (2:30pm-10:30pm) and will work on 3rd shift permanently (10:30pm-6:30am) Pay: $14.00 per hour.

The following are the job requirements for ALL positions: (must meet all of the positions)

  • Must NOT have any felonies or misdemeanors
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED
  • Must be drug free
  • Must have experience in all of the skills needed (mentioned above) for the position for which you are applying for
  • Must have your own transportation (all positions are 3rd shift and buses do not run at that time)
  • Must be able to get to Blue Island , IL on time every work day
