Free Dinner at BJs - Tuesday, December 16, 2014

BJ's Market & Bakery - Auburn Gresham
The Faith Community of St. Sabina is partnering with Terry Peterson, Vice President of Government Affairs, Rush University Medical Center, Johnson Publishing, Senator Jacqueline Collins (D-16), WVON and John Meyer, owner of BJ’s, are partnering to feed the community through “Operation Hope: Feeding the Community.”
Everyone is invited to get free, home-cooked hot dinners at BJ’s Market & Bakery at 79th and Racine on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
WVON will be broadcasting live.

Take the “Seasoned” Citizens in Your Life to WVON’s Senior Breakfast on December 6th

On Saturday, December 6, 2014, WVON will be sponsoring its 23rd Annual Senior Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The House of Hope, 752 E. 114th Street.

“Seasoned’ citizens ages 62 years older get in free; 61 and younger have to pay $5.00.

Photos from the Holiday Dinner at BJs

I stopped through BJs Market for the holiday dinner that was given by Operation Hope and had a pretty good time. The dinner was good but the fake banana pudding for desert was not cool. WVON 1690 was broadcasting live. Mary Wilson and one of the Four Tops made an appearance. And I got a chance to hug Father Pfleger.

There was one thing missing while we were there: the carolers. They normally jam while we eat. Anyway, here are a few pics from the event.

Free Holiday Dinner at BJs Market - December 17, 2013

Pack up your family and roll on over to BJs Market & Bakery on 79th & Racine to enjoy a free holiday dinner compliments of The Faith Community of St. Sabina and their community partners on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Dinners will be distributed from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

I’ve taken my family for the past few years and it was great to see the turnout. Father Pfleger (that’s my dude!) and staff from WVON are always there, not just because they are sponsors, but because they genuinely care about the community.

This event is made possible through a partnership between Johnson Publishing Company, The Faith Community of St. Sabina, Terry Peterson, State Senator Jackie Collins, WVON, Chicago Urban League, and BJs Market & Bakery.

FREE “Know Your Credit Score” Workshop - November 2, 2013

The Monroe Foundation and Agora Community Services are holding a Know Your Credit Score Workshop on Saturday, November 2, 2013. The workshop will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at WVON, 1000 E. 87th Street in Chicago. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.
