Chicago Police & Firefighter (High School) Academy Class of 2015 is Accepting Applications Until April 30, 2013

The Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy (CPFTA) is now accepting new applications for Class of 2015.

This 2-year program provides training for students interested in careers in public safety, law enforcement, criminal justice, and fire science. It also fulfills the two career education or elective credits that all CPS high school students need in order to graduate. The CPFTA curriculum allows juniors and seniors who are city residents to progress seamlessly from high school directly into any City College of Chicago to complete their Associate’s degree.

Online applications are due on April 30, 2013 and all remaining application materials must be received in the office no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, May 6, 2013.

Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship – Apply Now

Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation has officially posted its application for a $1,000 scholarship for the 2013-2014 school year.

This application is for students seeking an undergraduate degree. Applicants should be an accepted student at an accredited institution of higher learning to include community colleges, private institutions and certified vocational training programs.

Secret Santas Needed by December 8, 2012

Secret Santa

The staff at  Supportive Services Development Corporation (SSDC) is looking for “Secret Santas” to help families have some semblance of Christmas spirit and the joy of presents for their children. They do have a wishlist so you need to contact Terrance Leftridge, the Program Manager, at 773-550-0313 for more information.

The items are needed by December 8th so they can be distributed by December 15th.  Any items purchased are tax deductible as SSDC is a 501(3)(c) not for profit organization.
