smARTkids @ the Library – March 13th

Smart Kids

10 am–12 pm, Bessie Coleman Library, 731 E. 63rd Street

2–4 pm, Blackstone Library, 4904 S. Lake Park Avenue

Drop by your local library for some free family fun. This Saturday, see artists’ recreations of famous places, design your own postcard of your favorite site in Chicago, and hear a girl’s story about her trip to Chicago in The Journey by Sarah Stewart.

All ages are welcome, though activities are designed for children 4-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Open Mic

Open Mic: The Dark Mirror
Thursday, March 4, 7–9 pm
Step up to the open mic and share a few poems, a short story, or a creative essay about your darker side. Hosted by poets Matthias Regan and Eric Elshtain. Featuring astro funk spun by DJ The Rob Sizwe.

All are welcome to participate. There will be a 5 minute time limit and you must sign up to read. The sign-up sheet will be available at 6:45 pm with slots available on a first-come-first-served basis.
