I know I’m a little late with this message but I want to congratulate Wendell Phillips Wildcats for being the first Chicago Public School team to win a state football championship.

I’m SUPER proud for several reasons.

1. These young people worked hard to reach this goal.
2. Despite what you see on news media, all young black boys are not menaces to society.
3. They are South Siders.
4. The Wildcats won on Huskie ground. I graduated from NIU.

Hopefully, they started a tradition of winning for south side teams at all levels.
